For his part, Joaquín Clerch played with the developments and repetitions in Ponce's concerto, displaying a kind of reorientation in each repetition that gave his performance a constant sense of variety, enhanced by the colour of his sound, as was evident in the cadenza, an example of reinvention. (...) The mastery developed by both performers, the understanding and control maintained by the conductor throughout this unique programme and the monumental setting of the Patio de los Naranjos de la Mezquita left the audience with the impression of an evening that will be fondly remembered in the history of the festival.
